I've been working through the book, The Artist's Way, by Julia Cameron. One of this week's tasks is to write an artist's prayer.
The Praying Girl's Prayer
Dear Father,
I come before You humbled by Your majesty.
You are the ultimate artist.
You created all the beauty that surrounds me,
Out of nothing.
No one is as great as You.
I desire to be a pleasing and honorable servant
Not because I am Your slave
Or because of any sense of empowerment.
But, I desire to be Your servant
Because I love and adore You.
To be used by You to do good in this world
Is my greatest desire.
Since You are the Master,
I sit at Your feet.
Teach me.
Make me teachable.
Open my mind, my spirit, my heart
To hear Your directions.
I sit at the feet of the
Master Creator,
Master Artist.
I ask that You speak to me and give me
A purpose for everything I do.
I ask that before I pick up a brush,
Prepare a canvas,
Open a tube of paint,
Draw a line,
That You open me up to the
Realm of possibility.
Not my finite realm,
But Your infinite realm.
Take my thoughts and my creativity
that You created in me
when I was being created.
And, bring it all together
To create lasting testimonies of You...
Your greatness
Your power
Your loveliness
Your grace
Your glory
Your peace
Your healing
Your beauty
Your love
Your patience
Your joy...
Great testimonies of YOU.
Amen,
Praying Girl
